Can East Libya be independent?

Dear People of East Libya, former Cyrenaica!
60 years ago Cyrenaica was independent. There are 1613 thousand people living on this territory, that is now in majority free from col. Gaddafi rule. You should be immensly happy- You abolished a dictatorship that ranked second harshest on the planet, right after North Korea (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_World_Liberty_Index )
But, there is a fear that col. Gaddafi, if he survives, he might attack You. It will get more difficult, if this part of Libya would announce independence. Then he would be attacking a separate countrym, and he would be causing an international conflict.
Please, announce independence of your province! Your country has a wonderful history, and good economic prospects. You do not have oil reserves, but You do have sandy beaches and sea. That is all You need to build a prosperous nation, that is based od tourism, in the same way as Tunisia or whole coastal regions of Egypt. To have it done, You need to establish rule of law, liberal enough to atract foreign investment, that would build hotels and resorts on the seaside. You also need proper airports, to serve the incoming charter planes. You have no tourism, as You were an exceptional totalitarian state and few were coming. Water? It is under the sands of Cyrenaica, but no one extracts it, as I read today.
That is all. Do not be afraid. Small countries often prosper much, much better than the large ones. See Luxembourg or Estonia, to have similar sized countries. They outperform their larger neighbours in their respective groups.
And, please do not forget about other Libyans suffering world's second worst regime in other parts of Libya.
