Władysław Frasyniuk, a former chairman of Freedom Union (Unia Wolności) and Democratic Party (Partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl) leaves it's ranks. Frasyniuk, one of the leaders of the Solidarity Movement, is going to get involved in Olechowski's, an independent candidate supported by Democratic Party (Stronnictwo Demokratyczne of Piskorski), election campaign. Following 'Newsweek': Frasyniuk's decision is caused by DP's (PD of Brygida Kuźniak) unduly turning left and undemocratic way of choosing a candidate for president elections. It's worth mentioning that DP (PD do Kuźniak) together with The Social Democracy do Poland (Socjaldemokracja Polska) have back up candidacy of Tomasz Nałęcz, a historician, chairman of committee having investigated so called 'Rywingate' affair and a former politician of Freedom Union (Unia Wolności).
This has been another withdraw from the Democratic Party (PD do Kuźniak) at the turn of the last year. Earlier, DP (PD of Brygida Kuźniak) had been abandoned by the group of deputies, who'd been forming the Democratic Parliamentary Circle: Bogdan Lis, Jan Widacki and Marian Pilara. They supported parliamentary representation of the Democratic Party (SD of Piskorski). Brygida Kuźniak's governing style caused also an out-flux of powerful politicians from Gdańsk e.g. Dominika Kwiatkowska and Piotr Beniuszys (also to the Democratic Party of Piskorski).
Undue rapprochement between DP (of Kużniak) and the Left also resulted in Liberal Forum Association's formation in 2006. At that time a group of politicians leaded by Marcin Celiński and Artur Buczyński didn't agree to run for Parliament from lists of the Left and the Democrates (Lewica i Demokraci).
