Szmajdziński bets on woman

Jolanta Szymanek-Deresz is going to be a leader of election staff of DLA's (pl.: SLD) candidate, Jerzy Szmajdziński. A former chief of president Kwaśniewski chancellory has to help Szmajdziński in gaining votes of women. Previously, a former president, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, joined a honorary committee supporting Jerzy Szmajdziński.
As politicians of DLA emphasise, the asset of Szymanek-Deresz are years of successful cooperation with contemporary president.
Jolanta Szymanek - Deresz is a lawyer. She's been a deputy in two cadences. Since 1979 until the end she was a member of PUWP (Polish United Workers' Party; pl.: PZPR). She's a vice-leader of DLA. During the latest elections to European Parliament Szymanek-Deresz ran for seat without success. She gained a backup of Women Party (pl.: Partia Kobiet) then.
Jerzy Szmajdziński has a few-percent backup in polls. He loses a competition for voters with Andrzej Olechowski, and he doesn't take over the electorate of Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
